Sunrisers Hyderabad registered a commanding victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Match No. 67 of IPL 2026 on May 22, producing a dominant all-round performance at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad.
Batting first after winning the toss, SRH posted a massive total of 255/4 in their allotted 20 overs. The innings was powered by an explosive start from Abhishek Sharma, who hammered 56 runs off just 22 deliveries. His knock included four boundaries and five sixes at a stunning strike rate of 254.55, putting the RCB bowlers under pressure right from the start.
Ishan Kishan continued the momentum with a brilliant innings of 79 runs from 46 balls. The left-handed batter struck eight fours and three sixes while maintaining a strike rate of 171.74. In the death overs, Heinrich Klaasen provided the finishing touch with a destructive 51 off just 24 deliveries, smashing two fours and five sixes at an impressive strike rate of 212.50. For RCB, Rasikh Salam Dar was the most successful bowler, picking up two wickets for 52 runs in his four-over spell.
Chasing a daunting target of 256, RCB failed to maintain the required momentum and eventually finished on 200/4 in 20 overs. Captain Rajat Patidar top-scored with a fighting 56 off 39 balls, which included six boundaries and one six at a strike rate of 143.59. However, the rest of the batting unit struggled to keep pace with the required rate.
For SRH, Eshan Malinga impressed with the ball, returning figures of 2/33. Despite the defeat, RCB finished at the top of the IPL 2026 points table with nine wins and qualified for Qualifier 1, where they will face Gujarat Titans. Meanwhile, SRH secured third place and will feature in the Eliminator.
