IPL 2026 : Suyash Sharma gives a teasing send off to Shubman Gill during RCB vs GT clash

The high-octane atmosphere of the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium reached a fever pitch on Friday night as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) hosted Gujarat Titans (GT) in the 34th match of IPL 2026. In a contest defined by towering sixes and high-stakes drama, the evening of April 24 will be remembered not just for the runs scored, but for a moment of sharp psychological warfare that set social media ablaze.
The defining image of the match occurred during the 13th over of the Gujarat Titans’ innings. GT captain Shubman Gill looked set for a big finish, having navigated his way to a solid 32 off 24 balls. However, RCB’s young leg-spinner Suyash Sharma had other plans. On the fourth delivery of the over, Suyash unleashed a subtle, drifting googly that gripped the surface just enough to deceive the set batter.
Attempting to clear the ropes, Gill mistimed his shot, sending a towering fly ball straight into the reliable hands of Devdutt Padikkal at long-on. As the catch was safely taken, Suyash didn’t just celebrate with a standard fist pump. Instead, he looked directly toward the departing captain and performed a ‘bow down’ gesture, the very same trademark celebration Gill famously uses when he reaches a century.
The cheeky imitation was a clear gotcha moment, signalling that the apprentice had outsmarted the master on this occasion. While the Bengaluru crowd erupted in cheers, the ‘Prince’ of Indian cricket had to make the long walk back, silenced by his own signature move.
This celebration by suyash was much needed

Despite a magnificent century from Sai Sudharsan, who hammered 100 off 58 balls (11 fours, 5 sixes), Gujarat Titans’ total of 205/3 proved insufficient against a rejuvenated RCB batting lineup. The Titans started strong with a massive 128-run opening stand, but the momentum shifted after Suyash’s crucial breakthrough.
Chasing a daunting target of 206, RCB showed no signs of intimidation. The chase was anchored by a vintage performance from Virat Kohli, who earned the Player of the Match award with a blistering 81 off 44 balls. Kohli’s innings, featuring 6 fours and 4 sixes at a strike rate of 184.09, provided the perfect platform for the middle order.
Devdutt Padikkal played a vital supporting role, smashing 55 off just 27 balls, including six massive hits over the fence. Although GT’s Rashid Khan tried to pull things back with two quick wickets, Krunal Pandya (23 off 12) and Tim David (10) ensured there were no late hiccups. RCB reached 206/5 with 7 balls to spare, securing a 5-wicket victory that cements their position as a top contender in the IPL 2026 standings.
