The defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) produced a breathtaking batting display against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Match 11 of the Indian Premier League 2026, with Tim David stealing the spotlight through a sensational late onslaught at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Walking in at number 5 for his side, David turned the momentum towards RCB with a brutal unbeaten 70 off just 25 balls, striking at a staggering 280. His innings, laced with three fours and eight towering sixes, completely dismantled the CSK bowling attack and gave RCB the perfect finish.
Earlier, RCB’s top order ensured a strong platform as Phil Salt set the tone with a brisk 46 off 30 balls, while Virat Kohli chipped in with a quick 28. Devdutt Padikkal continued his fine touch, smashing a fluent 50 off 29 deliveries. Captain Rajat Patidar then accelerated brilliantly, remaining unbeaten on 48 off just 19 balls. However, it was David’s explosive cameo that took the innings from competitive to commanding.
The biggest carnage unfolded in the 19th over when David took apart Jamie Overton with three consecutive sixes. On the fourth ball, Overton pitched it full and outside off, and David stayed deep in the crease to muscle it cleanly over long-on, bringing up his half-century in emphatic fashion. The very next ball was on a length, and David made it look effortless, launching it straight back over the bowler’s head for another towering maximum. The last ball of the over faced the same feat as David sent the ball out of the stadium and capping off a stunning hat-trick of sixes.
In the blink of an eye, David had completely shifted the momentum, leaving CSK bowlers with no answers. The defending champions put on a mammoth total of 250 runs in their 20 overs.
