IPL 2026: Video of the Day: Salt, David pull off two blinders within 10 balls to restrict LSG to subpar total

Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) overseas duo of Phil Salt and Tim David took two absolutely brilliant catches in the field within 10 balls to restrict the Lucknow Super Giants to just 146 in the first innings at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday, April 16.

Englishman Salt once again proved that he does not need to wear wicketkeeping gloves to show his athleticism on a cricket field. The 29-year-old took an excellent diving catch to dismiss LSG captain Rishabh Pant off the bowling of Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Pant guided a low full-toss towards the deep square leg boundary, where Salt dived to his left to grab a blinder.

This is the second outstanding catch that Salt has taken in the outfield. The England international took an amazing one-handed catch to dismiss yet another captain, this time Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Ishan Kishan, during the opening game of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL).

David’s catch, meanwhile, was great if not better than Salt’s effort. Again, off the bowling of Bhuvneshwar, LSG’s George Linde tried to guide a shortish ball to the third man boundary. David, however, took an excellent catch running back. These kinds of catches are usually the most difficult ones as the fielder has to time his run to perfection whilst judging the ball's trajectory over their shoulder.
