While Pakistan Women had already named their squad for the upcoming tour of Ireland for three T20Is, there has been an unfortunate injury that has caused the ouster of Sadaf Shamas from the 15-member line-up. As a result, the Fatima Sana-led side has welcomed Shawaal Zulfiqar as Shamas' replacement for the away series on the Irish land.
Shamas tore her muscles on the left quadriceps during the course of a training session at home ahead of the series. Now, Shawaal, who plays the role of an opening batter has got an opportunity to prove her mettle on the overseas soil, and will unite with the squad in Ireland on Sunday. She marks a comeback to the side after a 19-month's absence from the international arena, with her last T20I appearance coming back in December 2023.
Fatima Sana (captain), Aliya Riaz, Diana Baig, Eyman Fatima, Gull Feroza, Muneeba Ali (wicketkeeper), Najiha Alvi (wicketkeeper), Nashra Sandhu, Natalia Parvaiz, Rameen Shamim, Sadia Iqbal, Sidra Amin, Tuba Hassan, Waheeda Akhtar, and Shawaal Zulfiqar
Meanwhile, the Irish women have also announced their squad for the upcoming series, and like always Gaby Lewis is leading the pack of the 14-member squad. The Irish roster also marks the comeback of Freya Sargent to the T20I set-up. Furthermore, the star power of Orla Prendergast and Laura Delany headline the announcement for the home series against the Women in Green.
Ireland Women squad: Gaby Lewis (captain), Ava Canning, Christina Coulter Reilly, Laura Delany, Amy Hunter, Arlene Kelly, Louise Little, Jane Maguire, Lara McBride, Cara Murray, Leah Paul, Orla Prendergast, Freya Sargent, Rebecca Stokell
