Ireland vs Afghanistan Prediction, 4th ODI – Who will win today’s match between IRE and AFG?

In a bid to avoid a series loss at home, Ireland (IRE) will once again host Afghanistan (AFG) for the fourth ODI of the ongoing assignment on Wednesday, August 12, at the Civil Service Cricket Club in Stormont, Belfast.

Ireland hasn't quite looked in a comfortable position despite playing at home. The first game was washed out due to rain, but in the subsequent encounters, they have not managed to cross the line. In the previous encounter on Monday, they missed out on a win by a narrow margin, but now will be hoping to come back and register a win to potentially avoid a series loss.

Afghanistan, on the other hand, are a side that has dominated the series throughout. Their team has played in unity, and while their batters were the formidable power in the second ODI, it was the all-round show of Rashid Khan that got them over the line in the third fixture. With the 2027 ODI World Cup qualification confirmed, the Afghans will be confident of taking an unassailable lead and winning the series.

The Civil Service Cricket Club in Stormont, Belfast, offers a balanced wicket, which provides generous amount of assistance to both batters and bowlers. However, scoring runs can get a tad bit trickier on this surface, especially in the second half of the match. Spinners are likely to have a say due to the slowness of the surface that is expected to kick in the first innings.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz has been in tremendous form for the Afghans over the past few series. The opening batter, who also keeps wickets for his side, is someone who can tackle the best of the bowling attacks and dominate them to score quick runs in the powerplay and then carry the innings forward. His ability to go for the kills even after the field restrictions get lifted makes him the batter to watch out for on Wednesday.

Jai Moondra came into the reckoning after a fantastic debut series in the T20Is against India and has been rewarded a place in the ODI team as a result. Moondra was the Player of the Series against the Men in Blue and stunned everyone with his left-arm pace. With a potential ODI debut waiting for him, Moondra would want to make it count.
