Ireland vs England Match Prediction, 2nd T20I – Who will win today’s match between IRE vs ENG?

Ireland (IRE) lock horns with England (ENG) in the second T20I at The Village in Dublin on Friday, September 19. England have taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

In the first T20I in Dublin, the hosts posted a competitive total of 196/3 in their 20 overs. Harry Tector and Lorcan Tucker scored impressive half-centuries after skipper Paul Stirling and Ross Adair got the team off to a decent start. None of the England bowlers managed to make a mark.

In reply, however, the in-form opening duo of Phil Salt and Jos Buttler took the Ireland bowlers to the cleaners. The latter was eventually dismissed for a 10-ball 28. England captain Jacob Bethell slammed 24 off 16 balls. Sam Curran also contributed with a 15-ball 27. However, the likes of Rehan Ahmed and Tom Banton were dismissed cheaply. The Three Lions eventually romped home in 17.4 overs with four wickets to spare. Phil Salt starred with the bat, smashing a 46-ball 89.

The surface at The Village in Dublin is expected to be great for batting once again. The boundaries are on the shorter side, as even the mistimed shots go for sixes. Winning the toss and opting to bowl first could be the better ploy.

Phil Salt has been in staggering form of late. After finishing as the highest run-getter in the recently-concluded series against South Africa, the opening batter slammed a 46-ball 89 in the first T20I against Ireland, belting 10 fours and four sixes. Ireland will want to see the back of him as early as possible.

Adil Rashid is the most experienced bowler in the series. The wily customer will look to cause all sorts of problems for the Irish batters with his guile. In four overs in the first T20I, he conceded 36 runs and picked up the big wicket of Stirling. Rashid will be the bowler to watch out for on Friday.
