“It hurts…”: Abhishek Sharma’s sister Komal reacts to star batter falling short of century in Asia Cup 2025 clash against Bangladesh

India’s young batting sensation Abhishek Sharma once again lit up the Asia Cup 2025 with an explosive performance. During the second Super 4 stage clash against Bangladesh, Abhishek showcased his destructive hitting ability, carving the opposition’s bowling attack apart to set India on a competitive total.

Abhishek’s innings was a treat for cricket fans. He scored a blistering 75 runs off just 37 deliveries, laced with six boundaries and five towering sixes. At one point, it seemed almost certain that the batter would complete his maiden century in the tournament. However, a heartbreaking run-out brought his innings to a premature end, leaving fans craving more. Despite the setback, India went on to win the match comfortably by 41 runs, largely thanks to Abhishek’s impactful contribution.

Following the game, Abhishek’s sister, Komal Sharma, shared her thoughts on her brother’s innings. While proud of his performance, she admitted that it was disappointing to see him fall short of a century.

“It hurts that Abhishek missed the century. However, it is okay, it is a part of the game,” Komal told ANI.

Komal expressed her strong belief in Abhishek’s abilities, stating that she is confident he will achieve a century during the tournament. She also highlighted her pride and happiness in seeing him play a crucial role in India’s victories, emphasizing that his impactful performances are significantly contributing to the team’s success.

“I am confident that he will score a century in the tournament. We are feeling great that he is playing a big role in ensuring that the team wins the match,” she added.

The conversation also turned to comparisons with Rohit Sharma, India’s batting stalwart and a player whom Abhishek has often been linked to in terms of style and temperament. Komal shared that she feels Abhishek is gradually stepping into a similar role for the Indian team, making the Sharma family proud.

“The team is very strong. We are proud of the team… I have always been a fan of Rohit Sharma and now Abhishek is also playing a similar role, I feel proud,” Komal added further.
