'It’s a bold move, trusting a young leader with a new-look team' - Michael Vaughan reacts to Shubman Gill's appointment as Test captain

Michael Vaughan feels that the young Indian side, which is set to play a five-match Test series against England, starting on June 20, could give Ben Stokes and Co. a run for their money.
India appointed Shubman Gill as the captain of the Test side after Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from the longest format on May 7. The Asian giants will also miss the services of Virat Kohli, who followed Rohit into Test retirement on May 12.
Former England captain Vaughan said that appointing a young cricketer like Shubman as the captain of a new-look team is a bold move on the part of the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee. The cricketer-turned-expert opined that Shubman has room for improvement as a batter, especially in overseas conditions, but he has what it takes to succeed on important occasions.
“Shubman Gill is officially the new face of Indian Test cricket, stepping up as captain for the England series. It’s a bold move, trusting a young leader with a new-look team after the retirements of giants like Rohit and Kohli. Gill has a lot to prove, especially away from home, but he has shown he has the temperament for big moments," Vaughan was quoted as saying by News18 Cricket Next.
“With Rishabh Pant as his deputy and a squad eager to make their mark, this England tour could be the start of something special for India’s next generation. Don’t be surprised if these youngsters rise to the occasion," Vaughan added.

Besides, former India legend Sunil Gavaskar echoed the excitement of Vaughan and the anticipation of the cricket fraternity, waiting to witness how a young Indian team steps up to the challenge of facing a strong England side in unfamiliar conditions.
“There’s always something special about an Indian team touring England, and this time, with a new young captain and terrific young players, the excitement and anticipation among fans are at an all-time high. Everyone is eager to see how these young cricketers will rise to the occasion and carve out their legacy," said Gavaskar, who will join Vaughan in the commentary box for the tour.
