Jofra Archer, Sam Curran, Jamie Overton set to miss rest of IPL 2025

England players Jofra Archer, Sam Curran, and Jamie Overton will not be available for the remaining games of their respective franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. While Archer represented the Rajasthan Royals (RR), Curran and Overton played for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) this season. Notably, both RR and CSK are out of the playoffs race.

However, Jos Buttler, Will Jacks, Liam Livingstone and Jacob Bethell, among others, will be reaching the country on Wednesday, May 14, to complete their IPL commitments. Livingstone and Bethell are turning up for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), while Jos Buttler and Will Jacks are playing for Gujarat Titans (GT) and Mumbai Indians (MI), respectively. All three teams are among the top four in the IPL 2025 points table.

Buttler is expected to arrive in India on Wednesday night. Meanwhile, Jacks could be seen in MI's practice session on Thursday. However, there is still no clarity regarding the return of Phil Salt, who has been in red-hot form for RCB in IPL 2025.

A high-ranked official of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said his understanding is some England players are returning to complete the league engagements while some others have chosen not to, a development confirmed by their respective franchises as well.

According to Cricbuzz, CSK has confirmed that they will not seek replacements for Curran and Overton. Meanwhile, RR has revealed that Archer is nursing an injury and the management is prioritising his fitness.

"It is not a case of not being willing because we are out of reckoning for playoffs. He is nurturing an injury and we are prioritising his fitness," an RR official said.

Moeen Ali, who plays for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), is still undecided on whether to return or not. His father, Munir Ali, told the aforementioned website that he will be in a position to clarify in the next 24 hours.

After a one-week break, the IPL resumes on May 17 in Bengaluru. The knockouts start on May 29, and the summit clash is on June 3.
