Aries Kollam Sailors and Adani Trivandrum Royals will take on each other in Match 4 of KCL 2025 at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. Both teams have won a game against each other in the inaugural season.
The Kollam-based franchise is coming on the back of an emphatic last-over win in the tournament opener. The side chased down a 139-run target set by the Calicut Gladiators to claim two important points and get their season off to a winning start. They will be hoping for a similarly awe-inspiring performance in the fourth match of the season as well.
On the other hand, Adani faced the Kochi Blue Tigers in their opening game of the season and suffered an eight-wicket defeat. After being asked to bat first, the Saly Viswanadh Samson-led team was bundled out for 97 runs, with Abijith Praveen being the highest scorer with a 32-ball 28. In reply, Kochi reached the target under 12 overs and registered an emphatic win.
A batter-friendly surface is expected to be rolled out as per historic trends at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday as well. The team winning the toss will most probably bowl first, hence avoiding the dew which might set in during the latter half of the match.
Abhishek J Nair, Arun Poulose, Sachin Baby (c), Vathsal Govind, Sharafuddeen, Rahul Sharma, Arjun A K (wk), Biju Narayanan, Basil NP, KM Asif, Amal A G
Riya Basheer, Subin S, Govind Dev Pai, Abdul Basith (c), Krishna Prasad, Nikhil M, Advait Prince (wk), Anantha Krishnan J, Basil Thampi, Asif Salam, Fazil Fanoos
Baby was the first edition's top-scorer by quite a distance, registering 528 runs in 12 matches while striking at a blistering 160.48. He was the second-highest run-getter for his side in their low-scoring clash against Calicut. He boasts a plethora of experience in the domestic circuit and in the IPL as well. The aggressive left-handed batter could be expected to play a captain's knock to lead his team to a victory on Friday.
Thampi could be anticipated to prove tough for the batters to face due to his ability to produce zip off the surface. An experienced right-arm fast bowler who has the ability to hit the deck hard could be expected to generate good benefit off the wicket. Thampi also has a bag full of variations to deceive batters while bowling in the death, which makes him a key bowler to watch out for in the upcoming contest.
