Kris Srikkanth urges Michael Hussey to reject England offer and stay at CSK
Michael Hussey is considering an offer to become England's Test batting and/or assistant coach following an informal approach from newly appointed head coach Stephen Fleming. Hussey has spent nearly 15 years at Chennai Super Kings as both a player and later as the franchise's batting coach. The Australian is currently weighing the opportunity, with family commitments and time away from home cited as considerations for taking on a full-time role with England.
According to reports, Hussey would need to quit his position at CSK if he joins England's coaching staff. Fleming took over as England coach from fellow New Zealander Brendon McCullum in July. Hussey previously served as a consultant for England during their successful 2022 Men's T20 World Cup campaign in Australia.
"I would advise Michael Hussey not to make that mistake. He would be made to work with Stephen Fleming again. He should continue with CSK as they'll take care of him brilliantly. Fleming has no work but to go to different places and call Hussey." Srikkanth said.
Srikkanth's comments reflect his view that Hussey's long association with CSK and Fleming makes staying at the franchise the better option. The Indian cricket personality believes CSK will provide Hussey with stability and care that may not be guaranteed elsewhere. Srikkanth's intervention highlights the value placed on Hussey's expertise within the IPL franchise, where he has established himself as a key member of the coaching setup.
England will host Australia in the Ashes in June, July and August next year, with the team looking to take possession of the urn for the first time since 2015. Hussey's experience and track record in international cricket make him an attractive prospect for the England coaching staff. However, his decision will ultimately depend on balancing the opportunity against his personal circumstances and his commitment to CSK.

There is a possibility that CSK would promote him to the head coach role in the absence of Fleming. Hussey would have to make a tough choice in the coming days as the Three Lions await his nod of approval.
