Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) continued their dominant run in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 with a commanding 18-run victory over Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. While the high-scoring encounter saw RCB post a record-breaking total of 241/4, it was all-rounder Krunal Pandya who grabbed attention post-match by revealing his ultimate career ambition.
On a batting-friendly surface that witnessed fireworks from both sides, Krunal played a crucial role in ensuring RCB stayed in control. Defending a mammoth total, the left-arm spinner showcased remarkable discipline, finishing with figures of 1/26 in his four overs.
At a venue like Wankhede, where chasing teams often thrive and MI managed to pile up 222/5, Krunal’s spell stood out for its composure and control. His economy rate of 6.50 proved decisive in slowing down the opposition during the middle overs, preventing the five-time champions from building unstoppable momentum.
While the spotlight largely remained on RCB’s batting exploits, Krunal’s contribution with the ball turned out to be equally impactful in sealing an important win.
After the match, Krunal candidly spoke about his long-term ambition, making it clear that wearing the Indian jersey again remains his biggest dream.
“The ultimate goal is to represent the country. I don’t dwell too much on it. I want to focus on what is in my control — going out there, performing, and winning games,” said Krunal, underlining his desire to return to international cricket.
The all-rounder further added that he believes consistent performances at the franchise level could eventually pave the way for a comeback. Reflecting on his previous stint with the national side, Krunal expressed satisfaction with his contributions but hinted that there is unfinished business.
“It’s about doing my thing and leaving the rest to God,” added Krunal.

Krunal has emerged as a key figure in RCB’s strong start to IPL 2026. Though not heavily relied upon with the bat so far, his value as a strategic bowler has been immense.
In four matches this season, he has picked up five wickets while maintaining tight control in the middle overs — a phase often considered the backbone of T20 bowling strategy. His ability to break partnerships and curb scoring has made him a dependable option for the team management.
What has stood out this season is his tactical evolution. Krunal has added unpredictability to his bowling, mixing subtle variations, surprise bouncers, and changes in pace to keep batters guessing. Even when conceding runs, his knack for striking at crucial moments has drawn praise from experts and fans alike.
