Lisa Keightley appointed as head coach of Mumbai Indians Women’s team

Mumbai Indians (MI) have confirmed the appointment of former Australian cricketer and two-time World Cup winner Lisa Keightley as the Head Coach of its women’s team. She will take over from Charlotte Edwards, who has moved on to become the coach of the England Women’s side.

Keightley was part of Australia’s World Cup-winning squads in 1997 and 2005 and is widely regarded as one of the most respected coaches in women’s cricket. She boasts a stellar playing career and a coaching resume spanning Australia, England, and top global leagues.

With her unparalleled experience and vision, Keightley is expected to strengthen the MI Women setup even further. MI Women are already the most successful team in the history of the Women’s Premier League (WPL), having won two championships in three seasons, the inaugural edition in 2023 and again in 2025.

She holds the unique distinction of having coached both the Australian and English women’s teams and was the first woman to serve as full-time head coach of England. Keightley also has extensive franchise coaching experience across the WBBL, The Hundred, and the WPL.

Last month, she guided the Northern Superchargers to the women’s title in The Hundred. As a player, Keightley was an accomplished opening batter, representing Australia in nine Tests, 82 ODIs, and one T20I.
