Konark Suryas Odisha (KSO) lock horns with Southern Super Stars (SSS) in match No. 12 of the ongoing Legends League Cricket (LLC) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Dehradun on Saturday, March 21.
Jermaine Blackwood's Konark Suryas Odisha has played two games so far. They started with an 18-run win against the India Captains. However, in their following game against Royal Riders Punjab, Odisha lost by 43 runs. Before this encounter, Odisha will meet the India Tigers on Friday in another important fixture.
On the other hand, Southern Super Stars are sitting pretty at the top of the table with two wins from as many games. They defeated the India Captains by eight wickets and followed it up with a 40-run victory against the Royal Riders Punjab.
This is going to be the first game hosted by the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Dehradun in LLC 2026. The surface is expected to be good for batting, but the bowlers should also get some assistance. Taking advantage of the power play overs for the opening batters is going to be crucial. The pitch could get slower as the game progresses.
This is a repeat of the 2024 final, where Southern Super Stars won in the Super Over. The head-to-head stands at 3-0 in favour of the Super Stars.
Morne van Wyk (WK), Kennar Lewis, Jermaine Blackwood (C), Jesal Karia, Chirag Gandhi, Saurin Thakar, Faiz Ahmed, Kashyap Prajapati, Ankit Rajpoot, Rituraj Singh, Miguel Cummins.
Hamilton Masakadza (C), Punit Bisht (WK), Dilshan Munaweera, Puneet Mehra, Waqarullah Ishaq, Abhishek Raut, Ajit Chandila, Ravi Jangid, Abhishek Sakuja, Diwesh Pathania, Asif Mansoori.
Hamilton Masakadza will look to lead his team from the front. He smashed an unbeaten 61 off 30 balls in the first game. In the second, he scored 19 off 16 balls. The right-handed batter is going to be a player to watch out for on Saturday.
Right-arm seamer Diwesh Pathania has done well so far in the tournament, bagging five wickets in two games at a mind-boggling average of 6.40. He will have a key role to play with the new ball. If he can get a wicket or two upfront, it will make things easier for his fellow bowlers.
