LPL 2026: Qualifier 2, CK vs GG Match Prediction – Who will win today’s LPL match between Colombo Kaps vs Galle Gallants?

The Colombo Kaps (CK) will take on the Galle Gallants (GG) in Qualifier 2 of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2026 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Friday, August 07.

The Kaps beat the Kandy Royals in the Eliminator of the 2026 season. Batting first, they posted a total of 203 for 7, with a quickfire 71 from Ben McDermott and late runs from Janith Liyanage and James Neesham. They defended the total by bundling the Kaps out for 135.

The Gallants, on the contrary, were beaten by the Jaffna Kings, who posted a mammoth 242 for 2 in their 20 overs, riding on Kamil Mishara's century and half-centuries from Towhid Hridoy and Khawaja Nafay. The Gallants were unable to chase the total down, finishing on a score of 228 for 8, falling short by 14 runs.

The pitch at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo is usually expected to be on the slower end but has dished out success for batters, with scores of over 200 in both knockout matches played at the venue. Batters have been able to play shots on the up and score freely due to the shorter boundaries, but as shown in the Kaps' game, their spinners were able to influence the game on a slightly abrasive surface.

Rubin Hermann, Ben McDermott, Sadeera Samarawickrama (wk), Kamindu Mendis (c), James Neesham, Janith Liyanage, Wanuja Sahan, Malsha Tharupathi, Milan Priyanath Rathnayake, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Binura Fernando

Sam Harper (wk), Thomas Fraser Rogers, Charith Asalanka, Dinura Kalupahana, Dasun Shanaka (c), Sahan Arachchige, Mohammad Nawaz, Tharindu Ratnayake, Akif Javed, Sachindu Colombage, Eshan Malinga

Australian wicketkeeper-batter Ben McDermott was the top batter for the Kaps against the Royals, scoring a brilliant 71 off 39 balls, hitting one four and seven sixes in his knock. A hard-hitting batter, McDermott is expected to play a vital role in this clash as well.

Left-arm spinner Wanuja Sahan was the pick of the bowlers against the Royals, with his four-over spell of 2 for 8 changing the game for the Kaps. He will be expected to put on a similar performance in the second qualifier to take his side home.
