The Madhya Pradesh League (MPL) is set to return for its latest season which will begin on June 12. The matches are scheduled to take place at the Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Shankarpur, Gwalior. The tournament was originally planned to be held in Indore from May 27, but has now been relocated due to the imminent arrival of monsoon and the rearranged schedule of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
Gwalior hosted the inaugural edition of the MPL last year and will once again serve as the home ground. The familiarity of the venue is expected to support both players and organisers. The Gwalior Division Cricket Association (GDCA) under the aegis of the MP Cricket Association, will oversee the conduct of the tournament.
“Gwalior holds a special place in the hearts of our players and fans, and we are thrilled to return here. With two new men’s teams and the introduction of our inaugural Women’s League, we’re proud to expand opportunities for talent across Madhya Pradesh,” said Chairman Mahanaaryaman Scindia.
MPL CEO Ravi Patankar said: “With the new start date firmly in place, we look forward to delivering an exciting and seamless tournament for players and fans alike."
The jersey unveiling ceremony is set to be held in Gwalior on May 27. This season marks a significant expansion for the MPL. The men’s competition, which featured five teams last year, has increased to seven teams with the addition of teams from the Bundelkhand and Chambal regions. For the first time, the MPL will also feature a Women’s Cricket League which will be played alongside the men’s event.
The men’s teams are Gwalior Cheetahs, Bhopal Leopards, Jabalpur Royal Lions, Rew Jaguars, Indore Pink Panthers, Chambal Ghariyals, Bundelkhand Bulls. The women’s teams are Chambal Ghariyals, Bhopal Wolves, Bundelkhand Bulls.
