India leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has finally responded to the explosive cheating accusations made by his ex-wife and popular choreographer Dhanashree Verma. The controversy took center stage after a recent episode of the reality show Rise & Fall, where Dhanashree alleged that she ‘caught’ Chahal cheating just two months into their marriage. Her statement immediately went viral, sparking widespread debate across social media platforms.
The couple, who tied the knot in December 2020, reportedly began living separately in 2022 before officially finalizing their divorce in March 2025. According to reports, the Bombay High Court waived off the mandatory cooling-off period and concluded the proceedings swiftly, with Dhanashree receiving approximately ₹4.75 crore as alimony.
In an exclusive interview with HT City, Chahal firmly denied all cheating allegations and expressed disappointment over how personal matters are being dragged into the public domain. Chahal stressed that he had always remained faithful throughout the marriage and urged everyone to move on from the controversy.
“I am a sportsperson, and I do not cheat. If someone cheats within two months, how could a relationship last four and a half years? For me, this chapter is over, done, and dusted. I have moved on, and everyone else should do the same.” Chahal said.
The leg-spinner also questioned the timing of Dhanashree’s claims, suggesting that the remarks may have been intended to attract attention. “Our marriage lasted 4.5 years. If I had really cheated early on, why continue for so long? I’ve said before that I’ve moved on, but some people are still stuck there. Even today, some run their house taking my name, and that’s fine. I’m neither concerned nor affected,” the Indian cricketer added.
Chahal made it clear that he has no intention of revisiting this part of his life. Emphasizing emotional closure, he reiterated, “Main iss chapter ko bhula chuka hun. Anyone can say anything, and it spreads on social media. There are hundreds of talks, but truth remains only one, and those who matter know it. For me, that chapter is closed forever,”

Chahal’s response reflects his determination to keep his focus on cricket and personal growth rather than being drawn into controversies. The 34-year-old emphasized that such rumours distract from the hard work and discipline required at the highest level of the sport. “I’m focusing on my life and my game. That’s what matters most to me now,” he concluded.
Earlier this year, Chahal had spoken on a podcast with entrepreneur Raj Shamani, where he hinted that his marriage had broken down due to growing differences rather than any specific event. The cricketer stated that mutual understanding and compatibility gradually faded with time.
Meanwhile, Dhanashree continues to feature on Rise & Fall, where she opened up about her past relationship during a conversation with actress Kubbra Sait. While her statement reignited public interest, Chahal’s calm and measured response signals his intent to leave controversies behind and focus solely on his professional journey.
