Brisbane Heat (BH W) lock horns with Melbourne Renegades (MR W) in the opening fixture of the 2025 Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane on Sunday, November 9.
Last season, Melbourne Renegades defeated Brisbane in the finals to win their maiden WBBL title. Coached by Simon Helmot, the Renegades will be missing the services of Hayley Matthews and Tayla Vlaeminck. However, they have a lot of players in their ranks who can fill their boots.
Mark Sorell, who is the coach of the Brisbane Heat, will be confident about his team's chances this year. Some of their star players include Jemimah Rodrigues, Jess Jonassen, Grace Harris, and Nadine de Klerk. Chinelle Henry is also set to make her debut in the tournament.
The Allan Border Field is expected to provide a balanced surface, where the new-ball bowlers should get a decent amount of swing inside the powerplay. The pitch can get slower as the match progresses. Batters should look to go after the bowling when the ball is new.
