The Match No. 9 of the ongoing Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) 2025 will take place between Adelaide Strikers (AS-W) and Melbourne Renegades (MR-W). This encounter will be the second game of the day on Friday, November 14 at the Karen Rolton Oval in Adelaide. The two teams recently squared off against each other in the T20 Spring Challenge in October.
The Strikers' first match of the ongoing WBBL season against the Melbourne Stars Women ended without yielding a result after only 4.2 overs of the chase could be completed before rain intervened. Amanda-Jade Wellington (2/20 in 4 overs) was the pick of the bowlers, as her team conceded 184/5 in 20 overs.
On the other hand, the Renegades have got off to a positive start to their WBBL 2025 campaign. They were successful in chasing down the targets set by Brisbane Heat Women and Sydney Thunder Women in both their games played thus far. They are also ranked at the top of the Points Table currently and would want to maintain the dominance after the fixture on Friday as well.
The Karen Rolton Oval in Adelaide has hosted 31 games in the WBBL, since hosting its first during the 2018-19 edition of the tournament. The nature of the pitch offers a balance of competition between the bat and the ball. However, batting first has been a favourable option chosen by the teams winning the toss here. The same can be expected in the upcoming contest, as the team batting first is more likely to win, going by past records.
Tammy Beaumont, Laura Wolvaardt, Madeline Penna, Tahlia McGrath (c), Bridget Patterson (wk), Ellie Johnston, Amanda-Jade Wellington, Jemma Barsby, Sophie Ecclestone, Megan Schutt, Darcie Brown
Davina Perrin, Courtney Webb, Deandra Dottin, Naomi Stalenberg, Georgia Wareham (c), Nicole Faltum (wk), Tess Flintoff, Alice Capsey, Sarah Coyte, Charis Bekker, Milly Illingworth
Georgia Wareham has had a fine start to her WBBL 2025. She has been awarded with the Player of the Match award in both of the Renegades' matches. She can be expected to carry forward the momentum from her 32-ball 58-run knock that came against Sydney Thunder Women. Her batting strike-rate of 164.44 in the couple of outings so far define how dangerous she can be with the bat, while being a handy bowler too.
Sophie Ecclestone was slightly unlucky to have conceded 35 runs in her four overs during the Strikers' only match, while also going wicketless. However, the English cricketer has shown time and again of her ability to bounce back from the setbacks and perform to the best of her potential. The experienced left-arm spinner will be expected to continue her 2025 Women's World Cup form, in which she picked up 16 wickets in seven matches. She will be backing her skills in the upcoming contest as well.
