The IPL 2026 campaign for young sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi continues to attract praise from some of the biggest names in world cricket. The Rajasthan Royals (RR) youngster emerged as one of the standout performers of the season, producing a series of breathtaking displays that captured the imagination of fans and experts alike.
At just 15 years of age, the left-handed batter rewrote several records during the tournament and established himself as one of the most exciting young talents in the game. While Rajasthan Royals narrowly missed out on a place in the final, Suryavanshi’s performances ensured he remained one of the biggest talking points of the season.
Former Australia captain Michael Clarke was full of praise for the teenage prodigy while speaking on the Beyond 23 Cricket podcast. Clarke believes Suryavanshi’s performances in IPL 2026 have already shown signs of a player capable of achieving extraordinary success at the highest level. The former World Cup-winning skipper went as far as suggesting that if an IPL mega auction had taken place after the season, Suryavanshi could have become the most sought-after player available.
“He’s definitely the talk of this year’s IPL. The poor kid was in tears when RR got knocked out, but he can hold his head high, as he had a stellar year. If the big auction was there this year and he was in it, I don’t think you pay anyone else more than him. Every generation has that special player like Viv Richards, Shane Warne, Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, or Jacques Kallis, who is so influential to kids around the world. Similarly, this young kid will inspire the next generation of young boys and girls all around the world,” Clarke said.
The Australian great also placed the youngster in the category of players capable of inspiring future generations, comparing his potential impact on the game to some of cricket’s most iconic names.

Clarke also expressed confidence in Suryavanshi’s ability to succeed at the international level. While urging Indian cricket to carefully manage the youngster’s development, he suggested that the batter already possesses the skills required to compete in T20 internationals. Despite difficult batting conditions and early wickets falling around him, Suryavanshi showcased impressive game awareness and adaptability.
“Allow him time to evolve in the other formats, as he’s only 15. He will play the next T20I for India or at least definitely be in the squad. You’ll see him in a number of Indian squads just for the experience of traveling with the team, being around senior players, and training in different conditions around the world. He’s good enough to already be playing in the shortest format for India. He will be good enough to play all three formats and dominate in all of them for India. He’s too talented and reads the game so well. In the Second Qualifier, he didn’t have the perfect batting conditions. He still managed to get a 90 off 40-odd balls. He showed game awareness and the skill to not just stand and smack every ball for six in the powerplay,” Clarke concluded.
Suryavanshi finished IPL 2026 as the tournament’s leading run-scorer, amassing a staggering 776 runs in 16 matches at a remarkable strike rate of 237.31, further strengthening his case as one of the brightest young prospects in world cricket.
