Australia’s T20I captain Mitchell Marsh has revealed his all-time combined ODI XI featuring players from Australia, India, and England, selecting a star-studded lineup that balances explosive batting with world-class bowling. In a video shared by Fox Cricket on October 7, 2025, Marsh shared his choices while also leaving out several high-profile names, including Rohit Sharma, Ricky Ponting, and MS Dhoni.
From the five options given for openers, Marsh selected David Warner and Adam Gilchrist, forming a left-handed opening duo known for their aggression and dominance in powerplays. Gilchrist also takes up wicketkeeping duties ahead of Dhoni and Jos Buttler.
To strengthen the top order, Marsh placed Sachin Tendulkar at number three, followed by Virat Kohli, Joe Root, and Michael Bevan in the middle order. This formidable batting lineup blends flair, consistency, and finishing expertise.
Marsh notably excluded three World Cup-winning captains—Ponting (Australia), Eoin Morgan (England), and Michael Clarke (Australia)—while backing Kohli, Root, and Bevan as his ideal middle-order trio.
For the all-rounder’s slot, Marsh chose Andrew Symonds, preferring him over other legendary options like Yuvraj Singh, Kapil Dev, Shane Watson, Steve Waugh, Andrew Flintoff, and Ben Stokes. Symonds, known for his explosive batting and handy off-spin, provides crucial depth at No. 7.
Marsh’s bowling lineup includes a mix of pace and spin. He selected Anil Kumble, Darren Gough, Jasprit Bumrah, and James Anderson as his four frontline bowlers.
Kumble, India’s highest ODI wicket-taker, provides spin control and wicket-taking ability through the middle overs. Bumrah’s death-bowling mastery adds modern sharpness, while England’s Anderson and Gough bring swing and experience to the attack.
