MLC 2026: Match 16, LAS vs WAS Match Prediction – Who will win today’s MLC match between Los Angeles Knight Riders vs Washington Freedom?
The 2026 Major League Cricket (MLC) season moves to a brand new location when hosts Los Angeles Knight Riders (LAS) take on the Washington Freedom (WAS) in Match 16 at the Knight Riders Cricket Field in Pomona. Both sides come into the game on the back of defeats in their previous outing.
The Knight Riders, who play at home for the first time in their history, started the season in fine fashion by winning their first two matches. They have since lost two games on the bounce, with their most recent defeat coming against the Seattle Orcas.
The Freedom, on the other hand, have the same number of points as their opponents (four) but are rooted to the foot of the standings due to their underwhelming net run-rate of -1.422. They have lost three and won two matches in the MLC this season.
The Knight Riders Cricket Field is set to host a professional cricket match for the first time. The venue will therefore have a fresh pitch, resulting in no historical data. The weather in Pomona is expected to remain clear with no chances of rain to ruin the action.
Colin Munro, Andre Fletcher (WK), Unmukt Chand, Sunil Narine, Rovman Powell, Jason Holder (C), Saif Badar, Fabian Allen, Matthew Tromp, Shadley van Schalkwyk, Ali Khan
Steven Smith (C), Mitchell Owen, Andries Gous (WK), Mark Chapman, Mukhtar Ahmed, Obus Pienaar, Marco Jansen, Nikhil Chaudhary, Amila Aponso, Saurabh Netravalkar, Lockie Ferguson
Despite the Freedom's poor showing in the MLC 2026, Mitchell Owen has been the tournament's leading run-scorer, with 337 runs at an average of 67.40 whilst striking at a whopping 217.41. He hit a breathtaking 155 off 68 balls against MI New York earlier this season, which is the highest individual score in the competition's history.
Veteran T20 spinner Sunil Narine continues to have an excellent season with the ball. He has taken seven wickets from four matches at a ridiculous economy of just 5.33.
