MLC 2026: Rovman Powell’s five-sixes blitz powers LA Knight Riders to dominant win over Seattle Orcas

Los Angeles Knight Riders (LAKR) produced a complete all-round display to register a convincing victory over Seattle Orcas (SO) in Major League Cricket (MLC) 2026. The win marked LAKR’s second triumph in as many matches, making them the only unbeaten side left in the tournament.
After being asked to bat first, the Knight Riders recovered from a series of middle-order setbacks to post a challenging total. Their bowlers then ensured that Seattle never got close to the target, striking regularly throughout the chase to seal a comprehensive win.
LAKR’s innings got off to a solid start thanks to openers Colin Munro and Andre Fletcher, who added 58 runs for the opening wicket. Fletcher top-scored with 40, while contributions from various batters kept the scoreboard moving despite wickets falling at regular intervals. However, Rovman Powell dramatically changed the complexion of the innings with one of the most destructive cameos of the season.
Facing Dasun Shanaka in the 17th over, Powell launched an extraordinary assault, smashing five consecutive sixes. The West Indies power-hitter cleared the ropes with remarkable ease, instantly shifting the momentum in LAKR’s favour. Although he was dismissed off the final ball of the over, Powell had already inflicted significant damage, scoring 37 runs off just 12 deliveries.
Jason Holder also chipped in with a valuable 23 from 14 balls lower down the order. Despite losing wickets in the final over, LAKR managed to reach 196 before being bowled out off the last ball of their innings. Both Jasdeep Singh and Ottneil Baartman finished with three wickets as the Orcas attempted to pull things back after Powell’s late blitz.

Chasing 197, Seattle Orcas never managed to establish any momentum. Sunil Narine struck early after coming into the attack as first change, dismissing Tim Seifert and Matthew Breetzke to leave the batting side under pressure inside the powerplay. The troubles continued when Carmi le Roux joined the party, removing two more batters as Seattle slipped to 43/4 after six overs. From there, the required run rate kept climbing while wickets continued to tumble.
Andre Russell delivered another impactful spell, claiming three wickets while conceding just eight runs. Shadley van Schalkwyk matched Russell’s wicket tally, while le Roux and Narine ensured there was no route back into the contest for the Orcas. Harmeet Singh fought hard with 25 off 17 balls, but he received little support from the other end. No other batter managed to make a significant contribution as Seattle’s innings unraveled under sustained pressure. Eventually, the Orcas were bowled out for 115 in 15.3 overs, handing LAKR a massive 81-run victory.
