MS Dhoni's old tweet resurfaces as Argentina set up FIFA World Cup Final date with Spain
MS Dhoni's old tweet resurfaced and went viral in minutes after Argentina defeated England 2-1 to reach the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final. By winning the match, Argentina have set up a date with Spain in the summit clash, which will be played at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, in the Unites States, on Monday, July 20.
Since Argentina's thrilling win against England, MS Dhoni's instagram post from June 2016 has re-emerged. In the post, the legendary wicketkeeper-batter could be seen playing PlayStation alongside Mandeep Singh, Jaydev Unadkat, Axar Patel, and Karun Nair. This picture was posted during India's tour of Zimbabwe in 2016. In the caption, Dhoni had written: "Spain vs Argentina".
Dhoni was the captain of the Indian team at the time. Axar was the most experienced T20I player after Dhoni in the picture. The spin-bowling all-rounder had made his international debut in 2014. Meanwhile, Unadkat and Mandeep had earned their T20 debut during the tour. Karun Nair, however, didn't get a game.
MS Dhoni has been attending India's matches during the ongoing tour of England. He was spotted at Edgbaston in Birmingham, watching the first ODI from the stands and sharing snacks with a young fan. The six-wicket win that India registered must have given Dhoni great joy after the T20I series turned out to be a disappointing affair. It will be interesting to see whether the 45-year-old will be at the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff on Thursday, July 16, when the Men in Blue square off with the Three Lions in the second ODI.
Fans didn't get to witness Dhoni in action this year during the IPL. Struggles with injuries forced him to spend the entire season on the sidelines. At least fans are now being able to see Dhoni more often as he is spending time watching matches in England and whenever he is around, the cameras make sure to capture him every now and then, generating huge roars from the spectators in attendance.
