Houston Generals CC 112/6 in 10 overs (James Fuller 48*, Toby Albert 18; Timil Patel 3/21, Rumman Raees 1/16) defeated Los Angeles Waves 91/3 in 10 overs (George Munsey 48*, Shehan Fernando 17*; Saad bin Zafar 2/8, Savan Patel 1/4) by 21 runs.
Houston Generals CC made their debut memorable in the National Cricket League T10 2025 at the University of Texas Dallas on Sunday, October 5. The Nisarg Patel-led side beat Los Angeles Waves CC by 21 runs.
George Munsey won the toss for the Los Angeles Waves and elected to field first. Kwame Patton Jr gave Houston a blistering start, even as William Bosisto was dismissed cheaply. Toby Albert and Saad Bin Zafar also made handy contributions. However, the star of the show was James Fuller.
The 35-year-old England batter slammed an unbeaten 48 off 23 balls, belting four fours and three sixes. He finished with a strike rate of 208.7. Houston ended with a mammoth first-innings total of 112/6 in 10 overs. Timil Patel was the pick of the bowlers, taking three wickets in two overs, giving away 21 runs.
Chasing the 113-run target, Los Angeles didn't get the start they wanted. Syed Abdullah was dismissed for a duck in the first over by Zafar. Raj Nannan couldn't up the ante and was eventually dismissed for a 14-ball 15. Sheldon Jackson also failed to make a significant contribution, getting out for two runs. Shehan Fernando and George Munsey tried to take their team to victory with some lusty blows.
They added a quickfire 42-run partnership off 19 balls. However, they were left with too much heavy-lifting to do towards the back end of the innings. Munsey remained not out on 48 off 32 balls. Meanwhile, Shehah scored 17* off nine deliveries.
Zafar was the best bowler on show for Houston. He bowled two overs, giving away only eight runs and picking up two wickets. Savan Patel also picked up one wicket in his solitary over. Los Angeles finished their innings at 91/3. They will be disappointed not to have gone closer to the target, even after losing only three wickets.
