The West Indies squad for the upcoming bilateral T20I series against Nepal has been announced. The Cricket West Indies (CWI) has announced all-rounder Akeal Hosein as the captain of the 15-member squad, as the mainstay skipper Shai Hope has been rested, like many other regulars. Up to six new faces could be making their debut in the series, as fresh names have emerged in the contingent, where Rayon Griffith will be the head coach.
The series will be played in the United Arab Emirates, currently hosting the Asia Cup 2025 as well. However, Sharjah, which isn't the host to any of the matches in the continental tournament, has been picked as the venue for all three games in the historic first-ever series between West Indies and Nepal. The Akeal Hosein-led squad also includes the likes of experienced campaigners like Jason Holder and Obed McCoy.
“This series against Nepal is another important step in broadening the horizons of West Indies cricket. It allows our senior men’s team to engage with a passionate emerging nation while providing invaluable match experience in different conditions," CWI Director of Cricket, Miles Bascombe, said in an official statement on Wednesday, September 17.
“Beyond the immediate competition, this tour speaks to our long-term vision of developing a squad that is adaptable, resilient and ready for global challenges. Taking West Indies cricket into new territories and against new opposition also helps us grow the game, inspire new fans, and strengthen the brand of West Indies cricket worldwide,” Bascombe added.
Akeal Hosein (Captain), Fabian Allen, Jewel Andrew, Ackeem Auguste, Navin Bidaisse, Jediah Blades, Keacy Carty, Karima Gore, Jason Holder, Amir Jangoo, Kyle Mayers, Obed McCoy, Zishan Motara, Ramon Simmonds, Shamar Springer
