Nepal have named their squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against West Indies in the UAE, marking a historic moment in the country’s cricket journey. This will be Nepal’s first-ever bilateral series against a Full Member nation, and the matches are scheduled to be played in Sharjah from September 27.
The selectors have recalled allrounder Mohammad Aadil Alam and middle-order batter Sundeep Jora, adding depth and experience to the squad. Alam last featured for Nepal in August 2022, while Jora’s most recent international appearance came in June 2024. Rohit Paudel will continue to lead the team, with Dipendra Singh Airee named as vice-captain.
Nepal’s bowling unit will once again revolve around star leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane, who remains their strike weapon in the shortest format. Left-arm spinner Lalit Rajbanshi, who missed the Top End T20 series in Australia last month, also makes his return, strengthening the spin attack for the UAE tour.
The batting order is expected to lean on Paudel, Airee, and the returning Jora to provide stability, while explosive options in the middle order could be crucial against a strong West Indies outfit.
On the other side, West Indies have opted for a blend of youth and experience, naming five uncapped players in their squad. The team will be led by left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein, signaling a fresh leadership direction for the Caribbean side. The inclusion of new faces reflects West Indies’ strategy of building depth and testing talent ahead of major international tournaments.
The three-match T20I series will be staged entirely in Sharjah, a venue steeped in cricketing history and known for its passionate South Asian fan base. The series kicks off on September 27, with subsequent games to follow on September 29 and October 1.
