Australia's interim ODI captain Mitchell Marsh has made a cheeky wish that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli don't score much in the upcoming three-match ODI series between Australia and India.
Marsh termed Rohit and Kohli as "legends of the game" and also pointed out the craze of the Australian supporters who will be filling in the venues just to catch a glimpse of the veteran duo in what could be their "last time on Australian soil" as per Marsh.
"Had the privilege of playing against them quite a lot over the journey. They are obviously legends of the game. Virat, especially in this white-ball format, is the greatest chaser ever. I think you can see why the ticket sales are so high and why a lot of people are coming to watch them. And if it is their last time on Australian soil, I hope they enjoy it and I hope people can witness, not too much great cricket from them, but witness two of the greats playing in Australia,” Marsh was quoted as saying by India Today.
Rohit and Kohli have had a stellar record against Australia in ODIs during their professional career and have racked up truckloads of runs against them.
The duo last played for India during the title-winning 2025 Champions Trophy. The Australia series will be the first time they will be donning the India after since March.
Wouldn't shy away from taking advice from them: Gill
They will be playing under the captaincy of Shubman Gill after he recently appointed as the full-time ODI captain. He is currently the full-time Test skipper as well as the vice-captain of the 20-over unit. Gill is coming off a 2-2 series draw against England.
Shubman Gill (c), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer (vc), Axar Patel, KL Rahul, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Harshit Rana, Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, Dhruv Jurel, Yashasvi Jaiswal
