Pakistan to tour Bangladesh for three ODIs in March

Pakistan are all set to tour Bangladesh for a three-match ODI series in March 2026, with the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur playing host to all the matches.

The Men in Green will land in Dhaka on March 9, with the series scheduled to commence on March 11. The second and third ODIs will be played on March 13 and 15. All three matches will be day-night encounters, beginning at 2:15 PM Bangladesh Standard Time.

Both sides head into the series with some confidence, having showcased brilliant outings in their respective ODI outings. Pakistan registered a dominant 3-0 whitewash over Sri Lanka in November, while, Bangladesh claimed a hard-fought 2-1 series win against West Indies in October, showing strength in home conditions.

With the ODI World Cup 2027 just one year away, the upcoming series presents an important opportunity for both teams to fine-tune their combinations and assess bench strength in the 50-over format.

Meanwhile, amid all the drama surrounding Bangladesh Cricket, Board’s former General Secretary Syed Ashraful Haque has come out, criticising Pakistan Cricket Board’s chairman Mohsin Naqvi. According to him, Naqvi had a role to play in BCB’s decision to skip the mega event co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka.

"Possibly, though I prefer not to discuss politics. As a cricket administrator, I focus on honesty and commitment. Aminul Islam, likely being naive, was influenced by Mr. Mohsin Naqvi, the current ACC president, who persuaded him to go along. At the end of the day, who won?," he was quoted as saying by NDTV Sports.

"I always believed the decision taken by the Bangladesh government at the time, particularly by the then sports adviser (Asif Nazrul), was premature. There was no justification for such a drastic decision simply because Mustafizur Rahman was not allowed to play in the IPL in India," Haque concluded.

Bangladesh eventually opted out of the World Cup, whereas Pakistan have already qualified for the super-8 stage of the competition.
