The devastating floods in Punjab have left the state suffering from one of its worst natural calamities in decades. However, the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Punjab Kings (PBKS) has stepped forward to extend support by donating INR 33.8 lakh towards relief efforts.
Punjab has been affected by torrential rains and rising water levels in rivers such as the Sutlej, Beas, and Ravi. Triggered by heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir, along with upstream dam releases, the flood has claimed at least 37 lives so far.
According to official reports, more than 3.5 lakh residents have been affected, with over 1,000 villages swamped and nearly 61,000 hectares of farmland submerged. All 23 districts of the state have been declared flood-affected, making it one of the most severe floods Punjab has seen since 1988. Notably, over 11,000 people have been evacuated with the help of the Indian Army, NDRF, BSF, and local authorities.
Meanwhile, PBKS launched its “Together for Punjab” campaign. Partnering with Hemkunt Foundation and Round Table India, the franchise pledged INR 33.8 lakh to strengthen ongoing relief operations. The funds will be used to procure the inflatable rescue boats vital. These boats will also serve as permanent disaster-response assets for future crises in the state.
"We are devastated to witness the suffering caused by floods across our beloved state and we are joining hands with Hemkunt Foundation and RTI to contribute towards helping all those who are affected. Our efforts will be used in helping the victims across flood-affected regions and strengthen resilience for Sadda Punjab in the hour of need," PBKS official statement read.

The franchise also announced that the funds would be utilized for distributing clean drinking water, delivering essential supplies, and extending medical aid to affected communities. PBKS is also helping to create a system that will aid Punjab in dealing with such emergencies going forward.
Apart from its direct financial aid, Punjab Kings has launched a fundraising campaign on Ketto, looking to collect INR 2 crore. The collected funds will be directed to The Global Sikh Charity, which has been actively involved in supporting flood-hit communities and rebuilding efforts in Punjab.
