Perth Scorchers sign Calvin Harrison for 2026-27 Big Bash season

Perth Scorchers have signed English right-arm leg-break bowler Calvin Harrison for the 2026-27 Big Bash League season.

Harrison arrives at Optus Stadium on the back of a productive 2026 domestic campaign. He was central to Northamptonshire's title-winning T20 Blast campaign, claiming 22 wickets at an average of 15.27. His best return came against Essex, where he recorded figures of 5-9, one of the most eye-catching bowling performances of the competition.

He also played a key role in The Hundred for Trent Rockets, who reached the final under the coaching of Adam Voges, now Head Coach at Perth Scorchers. Harrison took 10 wickets across the tournament at 19.70 and delivered figures of 2-30 in the final against Manchester Super Giants.

Earlier in 2026, Harrison earned a call-up to the England Lions squad for limited-overs fixtures against Pakistan Shaheens in the UAE, a recognition of his growing standing in the English domestic structure. He is no stranger to Australian conditions either, having spent four months during the 2024-25 season turning out for Camberwell Magpies in the Victorian Premier Cricket competition. Harrison has also shown capability with the bat, recording three First Class centuries from 41 matches.

Harrison's right-arm leg-break bowling offers a different spin option to the left-arm orthodox styles of Ashton Agar and Cooper Connolly, both already part of the Scorchers' squad. His wicket-taking record across both the T20 Blast and The Hundred in 2026 demonstrates he can perform consistently in the shortest formats at a high level. Along with this, he can also contribute with the bat in the middle order and has three first-class centuries to his name.

Calvin adds another dimension to our bowling group, which performed brilliantly during BBL|15," Scorchers General Manager Kade Harvey said in an official statement.

Harrison's prior experience in Victorian Premier Cricket means he is familiar with Australian pitches and conditions, which should ease his transition into the BBL environment. His time at Camberwell Magpies gave him four months of competitive cricket on Australian soil before this opportunity arose.
