Prasidh Krishna replaces Mohammed Siraj in T20I squad travelling to Ireland & England
Prasidh Krishna replaces Mohammed Siraj in T20I squads for Ireland & England.
Fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has been withdrawn from India's squads for the upcoming T20I series against Ireland and England.
Following discussions between the BCCI Medical Team and the Team Management, Siraj has been advised a period of rest as part of his workload management programme. The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to ensure adequate recovery ahead of a long international season.
The Men's Selection Committee has named Prasidh Krishna as Siraj's replacement for both T20I series.
The Men in Blue have a three-match ODI series against England after their T20I games and will then host the West Indies in a white-ball tour before travelling to New Zealand in October. It is worth mentioning that Siraj is also not part of India's ODI squad, which is set to play in a three-match series against Afghanistan on home soil starting from Saturday, June 13.
Krishna has been a regular in India's Test and ODI setup for a couple of years now, but has only featured in five T20I matches in his international career, taking eight wickets at an economy rate of 11.00. The right-arm fast bowler last played a T20I game towards the end of 2023 against Australia.
The 30-year-old, however, is coming on the back of yet another excellent Indian Premier League for the Gujarat Titans, where he took 16 wickets from 12 matches. Before that, he ended the tournament as the Purple Cap winner, having taken 25 wickets from 15 appearances at an economy rate of 8.27.
Shreyas Iyer (C), Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson (WK), Ishan Kishan (WK), Shivam Dube, Tilak Varma (VC), Nitish Kumar Reddy, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Varun Chakaravarthy, Ravi Bishnoi, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Prince Yadav, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Prasidh Krishna.
