Legendary Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar posted an emotional message on social media in support of his son, Arjun, following his exploits with the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Match 68 of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL).
Despite LSG ending the campaign with yet another defeat, Arjun had a decent outing with the ball. The left-arm pacer bowled four overs for 36 runs, whilst taking the all-important wicket of Prabhsimran Singh, who was batting on 69 with an excellent yorker. He also scored five runs towards the end of the first innings.
The 26-year-old’s debut for the Lucknow-based franchise caught the eye of many, with Sachin showering his son with praise on social media. The former Indian batter was proud of Arjun’s efforts on the field and has advised him to stay grounded while working even harder to polish his skillset.
“Well done, Arjun. Proud of the way you’ve carried yourself through this season, always believing in your ability, staying patient, working hard quietly, and remaining positive despite having to wait for your opportunity till the very last match. Cricket tests patience as much as skill, and you handled both beautifully today. Keep your feet on the ground, and continue being in love with the game like you always have. Love you always,” Sachin Tendulkar said on X (formerly Twitter).

It is worth mentioning that the game against PBKS was Arjun’s first IPL game since he played a solitary match for the Mumbai Indians (MI) during the 2024 season. In total, the left-armer has featured five times for MI across two seasons, which included four appearances in 2023, where he took three wickets.

LSG, meanwhile, did show some fight towards the end of the 2026 IPL season, but it was too little too late. Rishabh Pant’s side are set to finish at the foot of the standings, having picked up just four wins from 14 matches.
