The Pakistan Super League 2026 saw a fresh controversy in Match 18 between the Quetta Gladiators and the Rawalpindiz, as Daryl Mitchell pulled out twice during Usman Tariq’s bowling pause.
The incident happened in the ninth over of Pindiz's batting innings, leading to tension between both teams. Mitchell pulled out twice, with Tariq having to reload his action before the umpires intervened on the second instance.
After a discussion between the players from both teams and the on-field umpire, Mitchell was asked to resume batting, and the game continued on without further stoppages.
Tariq has on several occasions stated that the pause and the questionable biomechanics in his action come from the double-joint present in his elbow, which restricts the movement of the joint.
During the Pakistan’s home series against Australia prior to the T20 World Cup, Cameron Green was seen making a chucking gesture after being dismissed by Tariq.
Meanwhile, the game saw the Quetta Gladiators post 182/6 in their 20 overs courtesy of a well-made 53 from Rilee Rossouw, 42 from Saud Shakeel, 39 from Hasan Nawaz and a late 21-run cameo from Jahandad Khan. For Rawalpindiz, Ben Sears picked up three wickets.
In response. the Pindiz were bowled out for just 121, with the Gladiators not allowing them to settle and picking up regular wickets to dent the chase. The Gladiators’ spinner put the pressure on, with Tariq, Saud Shakeel, Abrar Ahmed and Kashif Bhatti sharing six wickets amongst them.
The game was the Gladiators’ second win of the season, as they jumped up to fifth place on the table. Pindiz remain winless, having lost all five of the five games they have played.
