Lahore Qalandars (LAH) take on Islamabad United (ISL) in match No. 16 of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 at the National Stadium in Karachi on Thursday, April 9.
Shaheen Afridi-led Lahore Qalandars are placed at No. 4 on the points table, having won two games and lost one. In their last game, they defeated the Multan Sultans in a 13-over-per-side contest. A win on Thursday will take them into the top two on the points table.
Meanwhile, Islamabad United have played four games so far. They started with a defeat before their next game was washed out. However, in the last two games, they have been on a roll, defeating Quetta Gladiators and Rawalpindiz.
The National Stadium in Karachi is expected to provide a batting-friendly surface with not much help in store for the bowlers. However, the new ball could swing around for the first few overs and if the pacers can make it count, it would give their fellow bowlers some respite later in the innings.
Mohammad Naeem, Abdullah Shafique, Parvez Hossain Emon, Rubin Hermann, Sikandar Raza, Haseebullah Khan (WK), Asif Ali, Shaheen Afridi (C), Haris Rauf, Mustafizur Rahman, Ubaid Shah.
Devon Conway (WK), Sameer Minhas, Mohammad Faiq, Haider Ali, Mark Chapman, Shadab Khan (C), Imad Wasim, Faheem Ashraf, Chris Green, Richard Gleeson, Salman Irshad.
Sameer Minhas is second on the list of leading run-getters in PSL 2026. In three innings, he has amassed 180 runs at an average of 90 and a strike rate of 171.43. The 19-year-old would want to continue his dream run in the competition.
The experienced Shaheen Afridi has led his team from the front so far. In three games, he has accounted for six wickets at an average of 13 and a strike rate of 11. Despite bowling the difficult overs, his economy rate of 7.09 is quite impressive.
