Peshawar Zalmi will face Islamabad United in the Qualifier of the Pakistan Super League 2026 on April 28 at the National Stadium.
Peshawar Zalmi head into this crucial clash as table-toppers, having enjoyed a dominant league-stage campaign with eight wins from ten matches. Led by Babar Azam, they have been one of the most consistent sides this season.
On the other hand, Islamabad United finished second in the standings with six wins and will take confidence from their recent form, including a key victory heading into the playoffs.
The winner of the Qualifier will advance straight to the final, while the losing team will get another opportunity via the next playoff match.
The pitch at the iconic venue has been favourable to both the batters and the bowlers throughout the PSL 2026. Some of the matches have been high-scoring games whereas, in some games, the pitch has been on the slower side. With the match being played under the lights, the pitch might get better to bat on as the game progresses.
James Vince, Babar Azam (c), Kusal Mendis (wk), Farhan Yousaf, Iftikhar Ahmed, Michael Bracewell, Abdul Samad, Khurram Shahzad, Sufiyan Muqeem, Mohammad Basit, Ali Raza
Devon Conway (wk), Sameer Minhas, Mohsin Riaz, Shadab Khan (c), Mark Chapman, Haider Ali, Faheem Ashraf, Chris Green, Imad Wasim, Salman Mirza, Salman Irshad
Sri Lanka’s star batter Kusal Mendis will be the batter to watch out for in this high-voltage Qualifier clash. He has been in a tremendous touch, scoring 500 runs so far in the PSL 2026, and is the leading run-scorer of the tournament. Peshawar Zalmi would want to see him continue his solid form in this important clash.
Sufiyan Muqeem will be the bowler to watch out for in this knockout game. The left-arm wrist spinner is currently the leading wicket taker of the tournament, claiming 19 wickets in just nine matches. If there is any kind of assistance from the pitch, he can be an asset.
