Ravichandran Ashwin and his podcast co-host and journalist, Vimal Kumar, shared a hilarious moment during their recording session following Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) game against the Rajasthan Royals during the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL).
During the recording, Vimal Kumar had his room’s lights go off due to an electrical issue, which made Ashwin burst into laughter.
“And you are not at all making a good video. Your lights have just disappeared,” Ashwin laughingly said during the video.
Amongst the kerfuffle, Vimal Kumar still tried to provide a cricketing spin to the situation at hand.
“Just like how LSG’s lights have gone off, so have mine. On one of the rare situations, something has to go wrong, it will go wrong, Vimal Kumar said in reply.
Vimal Kumar then turned on the flashlight on his phone to illuminate the dark room, which further amused Ashwin and thus praised his commitment towards recording the podcast.
“LSG would be hoping for a similar ray of hope amongst all the darkness in their season so far, he added.
Funniest podcast of this season 🤣
Ashwin has been regularly sharing content on his two YouTube channels, whilst also coming in as an expert on JioStar’s IPL coverage.
LSG suffered a 40-run defeat at the hands of RR at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana International Cricket Stadium. Chasing 160 in the second innings, Rishabh Pant’s side were bundled out for just 119, after Jofra Archer took a three-wicket haul.

The defeat keeps LSG rooted to ninth spot in the points standings after their fourth consecutive defeat in this season’s IPL. RR, on the other hand, have climbed to second in the standings. The inaugural champions picked up a win in Lucknow following a run of back-to-back defeats to get their campaign back on track. They have earned 10 points from seven matches this season and only trail an unbeaten Punjab Kings in the standings.
