Vanuatu captain Rachel Andrew produced a once-in-a-lifetime performance, delivering both with bat and ball to lead her side to a thrilling seven-run win over Indonesia at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 East-Asia Pacific Qualifier in Fiji.

The 27-year-old all-rounder entered the record books by smashing an unbeaten 85 runs to anchor Vanuatu’s innings before claiming a remarkable hat-trick to dismantle Indonesia’s chase.

Her heroics made her only the second Vanuatu cricketer to take a T20I hat-trick, and incredibly, only the second player in Women’s T20I history to register a fifty and a hat-trick in the same match. The first to achieve that milestone was her teammate Selina Solman, who did so earlier in the year against France.

Andrew’s record-breaking effort not only showcased her versatility but also set the tone for Vanuatu’s campaign as they eye a spot in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 Global Qualifier.

Opting to bat first, Vanuatu looked for stability after early wickets, and Andrew delivered in style. She stood firm, mixing caution with aggression to score an unbeaten 85 off 66 balls, featuring boundaries at crucial moments to keep the scoreboard ticking.

Her lone-hand effort ensured Vanuatu reached a competitive 131-run total, giving the bowlers enough to defend in the second innings.

Chasing 132, Indonesia began confidently as Maria Corazon and Desi Wulandari stitched a solid 55-run opening stand. At that stage, they looked well on course to chase down the target.

But the match turned dramatically in the second half of the innings. Vanuatu’s bowlers, led by Nasimana Navaika and skipper Andrew, triggered a collapse. Navaika bagged 3/27 in four overs, breaking partnerships at crucial junctures.

Andrew then delivered the killer blow, removing three Indonesian batters in consecutive deliveries to complete a sensational hat-trick. She finished with figures of 3/10, earning the Player of the Match award and sealing a famous seven-run win for her team.
