Reports: Ashleigh Gardner separates with wife Monica Wright months after marriage
Australia Women's vice-captain and star all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner has reportedly separated herself from wife Monica Wright. The couple tied the wedding knot in April 2025, but things were not all good between them, as less than six months into the marriage, things started to fall apart as Gardner was with the Australian team in India for the 2025 Women's ODI World Cup.
The entire Australian team has been left in a state of shock, as Monica and Gardner had been together for almost five years and got married much later. According to reports, the couple started sharing a bitter relationship very few months into their marriage, despite being in a relationship for much longer before eventually taking the wedding oath.
"It was a little bit weird. It was like something was a little bit off with Ash, but we thought it was because of the pressure of the World Cup. When they got home, [Gardner] goes, "Hey, look, can we talk?" and she sat her down," a source was quoted as saying by The Daily Mail.
The report added that this conversation was the final nail in the coffin for their separation. It is currently not sure whether the couple has filed for a divorce.
"They were about to go to the fertility clinic. They had a booking that Monica had to cancel. Ash left one day. Monica came home, and everything of Ash's was gone except for the rings. She left the wedding rings in the cupboard. Just the box of wedding rings, and that was it," the source added.
"Some of them are really good mates, and Monica has a very good relationship with a lot of [players] still. A lot of them are quite upset. She had messages from nearly all of the girls telling her how upset they were about it," it mentioned further.
