India ODI captain Rohit Sharma has left fans and cricket experts amazed with a remarkable transformation ahead of his return to international cricket next month. Former India batting coach and close friend Abhishek Nayar shared a glimpse from a recent training session in Mumbai, giving followers a look at Rohit’s leaner and fitter physique.
Rohit is expected to make his comeback on October 19, when India begin their three-match ODI series against Australia. The veteran batter last featured for India in the Champions Trophy final in Dubai earlier this year and has spent the months since then focused on rigorous preparation.
Rohit has turned heads with a jaw-dropping transformation, having shed 10 kilograms ahead of his return to international cricket next month. Nayar shared a snapshot from a recent training session in Mumbai, captioning it, “10,000 grams later, we keep pushing,” giving fans a glimpse of Rohit’s leaner, fitter self.
Rohit underwent comprehensive pre-season fitness assessments, completing all mandatory tests successfully. His training at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru included extended batting sessions, agility drills, and strength conditioning, all designed to ensure he is in peak form for the ODI series. Experts believe this improved fitness will allow him to rotate the strike more efficiently and maintain energy levels throughout long innings.

Meanwhile, teammate Virat Kohli, who retired from T20 internationals last June after India’s T20 World Cup triumph, has been training in London following the IPL 2025 season. Kohli, like Rohit, has completed his fitness assessments and is reportedly in top shape, signaling strong competition and camaraderie ahead of the upcoming matches.
Although both Rohit and Kohli were initially expected to feature in India A’s upcoming three-match 50-over series against Australia A in Kanpur, neither was named in the squad. Nevertheless, their individual preparation underlines their commitment to performing at the highest level.
Rohit’s physical transformation is complemented by a renewed sense of energy and leadership. His disciplined approach has inspired teammates and is expected to have a positive impact on India’s performance against a strong Australian side. Fans and analysts alike are eager to see how this fitter version of Rohit performs in the upcoming ODI clash, which begins from October 19.
