Match 10 of SA20 2025-26 will be played between Paarl Royals and MI Cape Town at the Boland Park in Paarl on January 2. The Cape Town have won five out of seven matches played against the Royals in the history of the SA20 so far.
It wasn't a pleasant start to the season for the Royals, who lost by a whopping 137-run margin to Sunrisers Eastern Cape in their season opener. Only two players from the Royals managed to score in double digits that evening. The reverse fixture was won by the David Miller-led unit, courtesy of a remarkable half-century by the captain himself.
The Cape Town's first two matches were against Durban's Super Giants. Even a Ryan Rickelton ton was not enough to track down the 233-run target set by the opposition. The next match was washed out after only four overs. In their third game, Rashid Khan's men conceded another 200-plus total, this time against Pretoria Capitals. The high-tempo chase was not directed in the correct manner as Cape Town were bundled out for 135 in 14.2 overs, losing the game by 85 runs.
In the only match played at the venue this SA20 season, hosts Paarl Royals were bowled out for 49 while chasing 187. In the 11 T20s played here, seven have been won by the team batting first. Due to this statistic, the captain winning the toss may be tempted to set a target.
Asa Tribe, Lhuan-dre Pretorius, Rubin Hermann, Kyle Verreynne (wk), David Miller (c), Keagan Lion Cachet, Delano Potgieter, Bjorn Fortuin, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Nqobani Mokoena, Ottneil Baartman
Rassie van der Dussen, Ryan Rickelton (wk), Reeza Hendricks, Jason Smith, Nicholas Pooran, Dwaine Pretorius, George Linde, Corbin Bosch, Rashid Khan (c), Kagiso Rabada, Trent Boult
Ryan Rickelton made a belligerent start to the season with a 113 off 63 in the Cape Town's opening fixture. Despite his knock coming in a losing cause, he won the Player of the Match award. Rickelton is one of those batters who can take the game away from the opposition.
Despite being on the expensive side so far, Ottneil Baartman has been amongst the wickets, having scalped five wickets in two matches. Baartman is coming off a successful white-ball leg of the India tour. His pace and bounce is likely to play a crucial part for the Royals.
