Match 26 of SA20 2025-26 will be played between MI Cape Town and Sunrisers Eastern Cape at the Newlands in Cape Town on Friday, January 16. This will be the first time the two teams will be playing against each other this season.
Eight games into the season, the Cape Town find themselves at the bottom of the heap. Their only two victories this season have come against Joburg Super Kings. The Rashid Khan-led unit will aim to finish off the season strong.
The Eastern Cape possess the best net run rate (+2.398) as compared to other teams. The Eastern Cape have a prime opportunity of extending their lead at the top of the points table.
Historically, the Newlands has favoured chasing teams as the pitch tends to flatten out as the match goes on. The pacers will be expected to gain some advantage with the new ball. However, the deck will be batting-conducive and a high-scoring contest can be expected.
Ryan Rickelton (wk), Reeza Hendricks, Rassie van der Dussen, Nicholas Pooran, Jason Smith, Karim Janat, George Linde, Corbin Bosch, Rashid Khan (c), Kagiso Rabada, Trent Boult
Jonny Bairstow, Quinton de Kock (wk), Matthew Breetzke, Jordan Hermann, Tristan Stubbs (c), Marco Jansen, Lewis Gregory, James Coles, Senuran Muthusamy, Anrich Nortje, Adam Milne
Rickelton recently struck his second ton in the ongoing SA20. Barring the couple of innings, Rickelton has not had the best season. Despite this, the top-order batter would want to prove his worth to the South African selectors who did not consider him in the squad for the T20 World Cup.
Jansen has picked up seven wickets in six innings so far in the season. Although the number of wickets is not on the higher side, the tall seamer has bowled with consistency and has conceded runs at a frugal economy rate of 7.28.
