Joburg Super Kings (JSK) take on Pretoria Capitals (PC) in match No. 28 of the SA20 2025-26 at The Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg on Saturday, January 17.
Donovan Ferreira took over captaincy duties from Faf du Plessis in the last match after the latter was ruled out of the campaign due to an injury. However, the Super Kings had to deal with a demoralising 61-run defeat against Sunrisers Eastern Cape. In eight matches, JSK have three wins and as many losses under their belt. Two of their matches ended without a result. They have 17 points and are placed at No. 4.
On the other hand, Pretoria Capitals are placed right above the Super Kings, at No. 3 on the points table. They have registered four wins and suffered four defeats after playing nine games. They had one game which was abandoned. A win for Keshav Maharaj's men on Saturday will help them take one step closer to the playoffs.
The Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg has produced some gorgeous batting tracks in the tournament so far. Batters will be able to hit through the line and there will be very little respite for the bowlers. Wickets with the new ball will be invaluable for both teams.
James Vince, Rivaldo Moonsamy (WK), Michael Pepper, Dian Forrester, Matthew de Villiers, Wiaan Mulder, Donovan Ferreira (C), Akeal Hosein, Nandre Burger, Imran Tahir, Richard Gleeson.
Connor Esterhuizen, Shai Hope (WK), Jordan Cox, Wihan Lubbe, Dewald Brevis, Sherfane Rutherford, Andre Russell, Keshav Maharaj (C), Lizaad Williams, Lungi Ngidi, Gideon Peters.
Shai Hope started the tournament on a fine note but his performance graph has dipped alarmingly of late. In eight innings, he has scored 260 runs at an average of 37.14. Despite his recent setbacks, the Capitals will hope that the West Indies' white-ball captain uses his experience and deliveries in the important fixture.
Richard Gleeson has bowled well so far in the tournament. In five games, he has nine scalps to his name at an average of 19.33 and a strike rate of 11.44. The 38-year-old England seamer will have a significant role to play with the new ball.
