Sachin Tendulkar delivers heartfelt speech during surprise visit to Women's Test at Lord's
India Women scripted history on Monday, July 13, by registering a memorable 270-run victory over England in the first-ever Women's Test played at the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground.
As the team celebrated the landmark achievement, batting legend Sachin Tendulkar made the moment even more special with an inspiring visit to greet the Indian team at the iconic venue.
According to Sky Sports, Tendulkar's visit to Lord's was unplanned. However, with India on the verge of a famous victory, the Master Blaster took the opportunity to congratulate the players in person after they sealed the win at the "Home of Cricket."
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) later shared a video of Tendulkar addressing the players ahead of day's play, where he praised the team for creating a historic moment while urging them to remain grounded and strive for even greater success.
“Well done. Lovely to see all of you. I have not come here to give a lecture to you guys. I have just come here to appreciate what you have done. So very well done. Super proud of your effort. It's not done yet. You are on the way to achieve something truly special. And the first one,” he said in a video released by the BCCI.
Tendulkar highlighted the significance of becoming the first Indian women's team to win a Test match at Lord's, adding that the achievement would forever hold a special place in Indian cricket history.
“There will be many more by other teams or by Indian teams also. Time will come but we will always be remembered as the first one (Winning the first-ever women’s Test at Lord’s). So I have just come here to enjoy this moment. This is a golden moment in Indian cricket. One short message. God has been really kind to us. Stay hungry and humble. Congratulations. Well done,” he concluded.
