The experienced Samson played a significant role in India's triumph at the T20 World Cup earlier this year. He was the Player of the Match in the semi-final and eventually won the Player of the Tournament award. The Kerala cricketer finished third on the list of leading run-getters in the tournament behind Sahibzada Farhan and Tim Seifert.
During IPL 2026, he started his journey at Chennai Super Kings, having joined the five-time champions through a trade before the season. Samson was the highest run-scorer for the Men in Yellow, as he had a decent campaign, which included two centuries.
The 31-year-old, however, had a forgettable outing against Ireland in the recent T20I series, which the Asian giants lost. In the first T20I, he was dismissed for five runs and in the second, he registered a golden duck.

The Men in Blue will want Samson to fire at the top of the order against England. If he gets going, India will invariably get into strong positions. With the in-form Vaibhav Sooryavanshi waiting in the wings, the Indian opener will be looking to make amends for their performance against Ireland.
