Australian all-rounder Sean Abbott returns for his fourth stint with Surrey for the 2026 County Championship and T20 Blast.
Abbott has represented Surrey previously, in 2021, 2023 and 2024. His fourth stint with the club will start on April 3 in the opening round of the County Championship against Warwickshire and will culminate at the end of the T20 Blast in July.
The experienced cricketer has been reliable for Surrey, with 49 wickets at 25.73 and handy runs in the lower order, with 614 at 38.37, being part of two of the club's hat-tricks of titles in 2023 and 2024. His Blast record is equally impressive, with 21 wickets and 225 runs, including a blistering 34-ball century in 2023 against the Kent Spitfires.
Abbott is a regular for Australia in both white-ball formats, with 58 caps across both formats, and has 69 wickets to his name. He is a regular across franchise circuits in the world and has the highest number of wickets in the Big Bash League with 186.
"The opportunity to rejoin Surrey for the 2026 season was a no brainer for me," "The club has become a real home away from home. The dressing room environment is one of the best I've experienced in my career and I'm looking forward to linking up with the group once more. I can't wait to walk out at the Kia Oval wearing the Three Feathers once again and help push the group for more success this summer,” said Abbott in a club statement.
"We look forward to Sean rejoining us back at the Kia Oval. His qualities as a cricketer speak for themselves and I have no doubts he will fit straight back into the dressing room," former England cricketer and Surrey Men's Director of Cricket, Alec Stewart was quoted as saying for Abbott.
Abbott’s return comes after the departure of West Indies star quick Kemar Roach to Durham after five seasons for the club. Surrey will be on their toes for this season, as their streak of three successive County Championship victories was broken in 2025 by a spirited Nottinghamshire side.
