Cricketer-turned-commentator Navjot Sidhu bashed a social media user for misquoting him. Sidhu refuted the claim of making the comments attributed to him regarding Gautam Gambhir and Ajit Agarkar, the head coach and BCCI's chairperson of the selection committee, respectively.
For the unversed, an X user stated that Sidhu had asked for the removal of Gambhir and Agarkar from their respective posts as well as the reappointment of Rohit Sharma as ODI captain for India to win the 2027 World Cup.

The user is understood to have deleted his comment and account altogether. Sidhu's post has been been gaining immense traction on social media. There were several comments condemning the X user for spreading fabricated information.
Sidhu has known to be a fierce critic of the Indian cricket team in the past. He has previously made plenty of strong remarks against the management and players. However, his analyses has more often than not been constructive criticism. He recently praised Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli's legacy to be as ever-lasting as the Himalayas.
Meanwhile, Gambhir came in as a successor of Rahul Dravid. The initial phase of his coaching stint was plagued with humbling losses to New Zealand (3-0 at home in 2024) and Australia (3-1 in 2025 Border-Gavaskar Trophy). However, he redeemed himself as India emerged victorious in Champions Trophy and Asia Cup champions (both this year).

India are currently in Australia for an eight-match white-ball series. The Men in Blue lost the series-opening ODI by seven wickets via the DLS method in Perth as both Rohit and Kohli, returning from a long hiatus, endured disappointing outings while he bowling did not look up to the mark too. The second ODI of the series will be played on October 23 in Adelaide.
