Star Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana recently confirmed her engagement to music composer and filmmaker Palash Muchhal through a fun Instagram reel featuring her teammates.
Mandhana has often kept her personal life away from the spotlight, but rumours about her relationship with Muchhal had been circulating for months. Muchhal himself had dropped a hint in October during an event at the State Press Club in Indore, joking that Mandhana would soon become the daughter-in-law of Indore.
While the comment triggered immense speculation, the now-viral reel put all doubts to rest. The announcement comes after Mandhana recently played a crucial role in India’s historic ICC Women’s ODI World Cup triumph.
The engagement reveal came through a playful dance reel on the Bollywood song 'Samjho Ho Hi Gaya' from Lage Raho Munna Bhai. Mandhana, joined by Jemimah Rodrigues, Shreyanka Patil, Radha Yadav, and Arundhati Reddy, took part in a choreographed dance. At the end of the reel, as the music faded, Mandhana lifted her hand to the camera, subtly flashing her engagement ring, confirming the long-awaited news.

Soon after the video was posted, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his wishes to the couple. In his congratulatory note, he mentioned that the wedding is set for November 23, a detail yet to be formally announced by the couple.
"May Smriti and Palaash build a shared life rooted in trust, standing by each other always, embracing responsibilities with love and growing together through each other’s strengths and imperfections," PM Modi wrote.
Meanwhile, the cricketer who came from lifting the World Cup earlier this month was India’s batting mainstay throughout the tournament, scoring a record-breaking 434 runs in nine innings at an average of 54.22. She surpassed Mithali Raj’s record for the most runs by an Indian in a single Women’s ODI World Cup and struck a century against New Zealand.
She also played an important role in the final against South Africa, helping India get off to a brilliant start alongside Shafali Verma. Though Laura Wolvaardt topped the overall charts, Mandhana finished as the second-highest run-scorer of the tournament.
