'Social media cannot make or break your day' - Renowned Tennis legend gives valuable advice to Richa Ghosh

Six-time Grand Slam champion Sania Mirza has advised ace Indian cricketer Richa Ghosh to not let opinions influence her game and belief. Richa was a crucial part of India's 2025 Women's World Cup-winning squad.
While speaking during a fireside chat with the wicketkeeper-batter at the Future Makers Conclave held as part of the Bengaluru Tech Summit 2025, Sania admitted that all the criticism directed towards her made her 'thick-skinned'.
"It made me very thick-skinned. I actually find it quite humorous. Find it quite funny that people who have never held a cricket bat or a tennis racket or a boxing glove in their hand can have such a big opinion about what you do professionally. You don't take the good to heart, and you don't take the bad to heart because social media cannot make or break your day. It cannot be that important. What can make or break your day is what the people you love feel about you, who you love feels about you, what communication you have with them," stated Sania, as quoted by India Today.
Richa said that she has been seeing criticism as a positive aspect. The 22-year-old elaborated on the reasoning behind she would rather want more criticism coming her way.
"To be honest, I take it very positively, because earlier in women's cricket, we didn't have that many followers or fans. But now, as the numbers grow, the criticism will also grow. I try to take that part positively. The bigger we get the criticism, the more people come to watch the game. I take that as a positive sign, because it means more people are watching, they're liking what women's cricket is doing, and they see the value in it. And in cricket today, the bigger it gets, the more people come to watch," added Richa.

India won their maiden Women's World Cup by defeating South Africa in the final of the mega event in Navi Mumbai on November 2. Richa registered 235 runs in eight innings at an average of 39.16 and and strike rate of 133.52.
